Parent Interview
Q: What is the name, age, and physical description of your
child?
A: Our son Ira Paul Klein just turned 5 years old. He is 3 feet, 3 inches tall and 44 pounds. He has blond hair and brown eyes.
Q: Has Ira ever been in preschool before?
A: Yes, he goes to Tenaya Parent Preschool. Since we have run a day care since Ira was born, he has always been around other children. He used to think that they all came just to play with him.
Q: What is your method of discipline?
A: We give warnings, and then if that doesn’t work he gets a time out for 5 minutes.
Q: Would you be willing to participate in special events?
A: Yes, as long as we have plenty of notice ahead of time. It is hard with a home business.
Q: What is your child’s favorite activity?
A: He just started getting into legos in the past few months. He like’s playing make believe with small figures, he calls them “guys”. Oh, and cars.
Q: What observations can you give me about your child’s development?
A: He doesn’t seem to like formal learning. If he thinks he needs to learn something he freezes up. He really likes to be active.
Q: What are his favorite foods?
A: He likes Chinese food. He loves tri-tip, a big meat eater.
Q: Are there any nap time routines we should know about?
A: He doesn’t nap.
Q: Are there any dietary restrictions?
A: We don’t give him any caffeine, and we keep the junk food and sugar to a minimum.
Q: What are your expectations from a child care provider?
A: To make my child’s environment comfortable and nurturing. I want the child care providers to be patient, knowledgeable, have a sense of humor, and create a positive learning environment.
