Parent Interview
Q: What is the name, age, and physical description of your child?
A: AnnaMarie, she is 22 months. She is a petite, blond hair, blue eyed little girl.
Q: What was your child’s weight at birth? Were there any complications with the pregnancy or birth?
A: She was 5 pounds,11 ounces. At birth she had a hard time controlling her temperature and blood sugars. We had to stay one extra day. During my pregnancy I had gestational diabetes and low amniotic fluid levels. I was very monitored closely and induced 10 days ealy.
Q: Can you please describe her personality?
A: She can be a very passive when she wants to be, however is generally strong willed and determined, like her Dad.
Q: What observations can you give me about your child’s development?
A: She walked late in her life, at 19 months, but other than that she is developing normally.
Q: Does your child prefer to play with certain items or toys?
A: She loves to play with her baby dolls and pretend that she is rocking them or feeding them.
Q: Would you be willing to participate in special events?
A: Yes.
Q: What does your child like/dislike to eat?
A: She likes to eat fruits and vegetables, pasta, and chicken nuggets. She doesn’t like to eat spicy foods or salad.
Q: Are there any dietary restrictions?
A: No
Q: What are your child’s nap time routines?
A: At home, on the weekends, I put her to bed for a nap around 10:30 and she sleeps for about an hour. At day care she naps from 12:00-1:30 or so.
Q: Do you observe any religious holidays that you want us to be aware of?
A: Christmas, Easter, Birthdays. Pretty much all holidays.
Q: What are your expectations, if you have any, from us as your child’s child care provider?
A: To keep my child safe, and provide a welcoming and developmentally appropriate environment.
By doing this interview I am able to get to know AnnaMarie's family. By getting to know her family I can know a little more about her personality, likes and dislikes, and any important information that is important to her care giving. It also brings us closer together. If a parent feels comfortable with us then their child will too. Also, we get a chance to see inside this families culture and make sure we are respecting these values as best we can. Now we can communicate with each other and build a relationship that supports their child's growth, development, and learning.
