Autobiography
Hello,
My name is Jessica Holden. I am 31 years old and I live in the wonderful state of California in a small town located just outside of Yosemite National Park. I am married to my best friend Tom and we have one fur baby, an English Bulldog named Bodie. I have been working in the Early Childhood education field since December 2007. While I was obtaining my AA in Liberal Studies and an AS in Child Development I was able to work at the college Child Development Center as a student teacher in the preschool, toddler, and infant center. I love working will all ages under 5 but I prefer to work with preschool age children. I now work as a Lead Center Teacher for a Head Start Full Inclusion Center and I love it! I have such a passion for working with young children, their families, and my community. Working in this field allows me to help young children reach their potential through developmentally appropriate activities and experiences. I love to see that "Ah ha" moment in a child's eyes when they have grasped a concept that was too abstract or difficult before.

Career Goals
I hope to continue to teach young children in a structured environment. I enjoy taking on the leadership role and help new teachers find their own personal teaching style. I would also like to get a Special Education Teaching Credential so that I can teach not just typically developing children but children with special needs as well. It is becoming more common for a teacher to have children with special needs in their classrooms and I feel by getting this credential I will be better able to teach them and their families.
Preferred Age Group
I love all the different ages of children, each bringing their own specific special developmental milestones, but I prefer to work with preschool ages 3 to 5. Getting ready for Kindergarten is very important as they are expected to start off running in academics once they get there. I enjoy teaching children the social-emotional skills needed to be successful in the primary grades.
