Columbia College Preschool
It’s October and that means fall has arrived. With the coming of the cool weather children need to wear warmer clothing. We would recommend keeping an extra set of warm clothes at school .Things like socks, shoes, pants, long sleeved shirt, and a waterproof jacket are great to have at school in case of accidents or a change of weather.
Halloween is almost here! This is a reminder of our policy on candy at the school, we don’t allow it. It is difficult on us and your child if we have to take it away from them, so please don’t bring it to school.
October is fire safety month. Since this is the time of year for heating and lighting Christmas trees it is recommend changing the batteries on all smoke detectors. You can also get mo re information on fire safety by going to www.befiresmart.com .
The recipe for this month is an easy one, Applesauce.
4 pounds of apples (skins on), washed, cored, and cut into 1-inch pieces. Simmer apples, covered, in a large sauce pan with 1/3 cup of water until tender, about 10 minutes. Transfer mixture to a blender. Working in small batches, blend until smooth. Pass through a fine sieve, food mill, or pulse in a food processor. Store in refrigerator.
