I learned a lot about promoting child development and learning from my experience in creating a math center. Children learn through hands on experiences. Allowing children to manipulate concrete items and explore new materials gives them a chance to learn something new. During the preschool age children are becoming familiar with time, shapes, sorting, rote counting, new math language, patterns, and comparing sizes. There is an infinite number of activities that children can do that involve math.
