Promoting Child Development
& Learning
What I learned about infant and toddler development is that most of their learning comes from the experiences they have every day. It is typical to over think activities and try to place unrealistic goals on infants and toddlers that you would place on a child in preschool. An infant/toddler curriculum should be based around daily experiences like diaper changes, eating, and napping as well as play where they learn how to problem solve and interact socially with other children. We as teachers can support this development and learning by taking a step back and observe these daily happenings, and knowing when we need to step in and provide appropriate guidance.
